A&E Factory Service is ridiculously incompetent.
I scheduled a call for my top of the line Maytag washer. It would start, but water would shut off after 5 seconds.
1st visit tech said it was not worth fixing but agreed to order parts.
2nd visit a different tech said we did not need the parts. Took Washer apart and put back together (wrong- but more on that later). Original problem solved, but now the washer shuts off after every stage of the cycle.
3rd visit, yet a third tech diagnosed an issue with washer control board and ordered $240 part.
4th visit (same tech) installed new washer control board and refused to leave old part.
5th visit, tech got scared, called in an old-timer (67 y/o former Maytag guy who really knew his stuff). The old Maytag guy runs tests on every switch and circuit - all tests good. Then he notices the two wires connecting the water value to the control board were flipped.
So this fixed the stopping at each step of the cycle...
They leave and I go to run the washer and find the original problem has resurfaced - you start the washer and the water stops. I run to get the guys back.
Turns out it took 5 trips and 6 A&E Techs to figure out the screen on the hot water hose was completely blocked. They removed the screen and now the washer works great!
Problem is A&E won't refund my money for the part that was not needed (diagnosed as an issue because the 2nd tech flipped the wires) without scheduling a 6th service call for the tech to verify my story.
Monetary Loss: $240.
